Baby Carrier Wearing Instruction

This page includes basic instruction for using your baby carriers. First off will be the instructions for using the DELUXE style carriers and after that will be the full-buckle style carriers. As with any type of baby equipment, you as the wearer are ultimately responsible for the safety of your child at all times. If you do not feel your child is secure at any time during these instructions, please have another adult aid you in safely using the carrier or discontinue use completely until you feel secure. I have shown steps using my 7mos old son (19lbs) and the Baby Deluxe style carrier here, the basic principles are the same for the other carriers as well. Please ask if you have any questions.

FRONT CARRY FACING IN: You will begin by buckling the waist so that the waistbelt fits and sits just above your hips snuggly. This is very important so that the waistbelt distributes your weight as it should onto your legs and removes the burden from your back and shoulders. Make sure that the buckle is secure and slide buckle area to your backside. Making sure the straps are not tangled and ready to be tied, hold your baby with as pictured and bring the body of the carrier against baby's back.

FRONT CARRY FACING OUT: If you want to use this position simple turn baby around in this step!

Snug up the body by pulling at the top area so that baby's bottom is correctly centered and carrier is fully behind baby's back.

One by one bring each shoulder strap up and over so that it lays flat over your shoulder area.

Next cross the straps one by one over your backeeping them flat and then bring each to the front in order to tie them.

If you have the Baby Deluxe Carrier there are Safety Position loops that you can use especially if you have an infant 6mos or younger so that there is no gap in the sides between you and the baby. If you are not using these loops, please be sure that the straps are still coming across in this location and not under the baby's legs (which is fine for older babies).

After both straps are to the front, tie the straps in a knot and make sure it is secure.

Viola!! You are ready and motive with baby snuggly and safely on your front! This is a great carry for a long time for most babies. My little guy is almost 20lbs now and I carry him A LOT in here, no back or shoulder pain at all!

BACK CARRY: PLEASE USE CAUTION AND WHEN FIRST TRYING HAVE ANOTHER PERSON THERE TO HELP YOU. THIS POSITION SHOULD ONLY BE USED WITH BABIES THAT HAVE GOOD HEAD/NECK CONTROL. Begin by securing buckle at the front, again making sure that the waistbelt fits and sits just above your hips snuggly. This is very important so that the waistbelt distributes your weight as it should onto your legs and removes the burden from your back and shoulders.

Make sure that the buckle is secured and either have someone help you bring baby to your back, bring baby to your back yourself leaning forward so that your back becomes a "table" for baby to be laying on while getting the carrier up and behind his back.

Still leaning over, cradle baby somewhat witht the back of your elbows while quickly grabbing one strap in order to get the body of the carrier up and behind baby's body. If you are not comfortable with this, again please have someone help you. Another safer option is to get low to the ground or on a bed.

Once the carrier is behind baby, grab each strap one at a time securely and stand up pulling straps and jiggle a bit to get baby in there seated well into the carrier.

Making sure the straps are flat, bring each over your shoulders like a backpack/rucksack (not crossed) and then crossing behind the baby's back.

The front view will look like this. Bringing the straps from the back to the front either above (don't pinch them though!)or below the baby's legs, tie them in the front and you again are motive and ready to go with a happy baby!

If you choose you also can have baby on back and instead of having a rucksack/backpack straps over your shoulders you may cross them like this.

You then bring them to the back by going under the baby's legs and tie in the back seurely.

NURSING POSITION: It is very possible and quite easy to nurse with discretion while wearing baby on the front. Simply loosen the straps slightly so that baby is able to have mouth near where they can eat and then tie securely again. In both of these pictures he is nursing with ease and I am comfortable. I was able to nurse with no problem while doing our weekly grocery shopping--it was easy and our little secret!!

BACK CARRY WITH BUCKLE CARRIER:

Adjust buckle to length so that the carrier sits just on your hips--this ensures the baby's weight will go onto your strongest muscles, your legs! This allows your shoulders and back to not feel the load no matter how heavy the baby.

Depending on the age of your baby, you will need to safely get him on your back either with the help of another person or "swinging" him from the front around to the back, always having a secure hold on him so there is no danger of injury.

When safely on back, grab each shoulder strap and bring forward, one at a time, and hold tightly so that baby is upright and against your back.

You can either cross straps over your chest to the opposite side buckle, or you can attach to the buckle on the same side as a backpack would (pictured below). After clipping buckles together, tighten securely on each side by pulling on the webbing. It is made to adjust by pulling forward on the shoulder strap as well as back on the side buckle.

Lastly, for extra security we have included a chest-strap that simply weaves under each shoulder strap and buckles at the center--although the width of the straps helps to keep the straps in place, the chest-strap ensures there is no slippage off the shoulder.
